WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: Like all major publishers, we're looking for the next blockbuster, but in the meanwhile, we're interested in finding good stories, well written, with writers who understand the importance of marketing. In today's publishing industry, to a small press, that's almost as important as the quality of the manuscript.

We LOVE books that make us laugh and cry, so punch up the emotions of your characters, and be sure we're firmly in a point of view so that we can live vicariously through them and escape our everyday lives for a time. All manuscripts we consider are suitable for your mother. In other words, we don't publish explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or foul language. Due to personal beliefs, neither do we publish any cultish material including, magic, glass balls, wizards, witches, or sorcerers, and the like.

Regarding genres: We love children's chapter books for ages 8-12 the best and have found them the easiest to market. We publish 'grown-up' fiction as well (we avoid the word 'adult' because of the negative connotations it evokes these days.) We work in almost any category except horror. We have yet to publish non-fiction, but when the right one comes along, we'll jump on it quickly as a chicken on a june bug.

PLEASE send a one-page synopsis and Chapter One ONLY. Any material sent without a self-addressed, stamped envelope for its return will be automatically recycled.

When your manuscript is selected for publication by Longhorn Creek Press (oh happy day!) we provide much more than printing. We provide our authors with sales aids such as bookmarks, postcards, press kits (mock-ups to go by OR ready-made), flyers, step-by-step proven marketing methods and even booking helps.

UNSOLICITED MANUSCRIPTS WILL BE RETURNED UNOPENED.
(In other words, don’t send the whole big thing unless requested.)

- On 8 1/2 X 11 white paper
- In English
- In black ink
- In 12 point, Times Roman or Courier New Font
